Mangalore, Feb 9: Valedictory 2010, the send-off for class X students was held at Presidency School, Kelarai here, recently.
The evening’s proceedings was initiated by symbolically handing over the flag to Abdul Fatah the school vice-president from the outgoing school president Rosheen Alvares.
The programme was given a touch of solemnity with principal Usha Rao lighting the candle to signify God’s life that may lead the students to the fullness of truth and love. She then lit the individual candles of students who in turn took an oath to remain truthful and patriotic.
Prof Dr M Abdul Rahiman, former vice-chancellor of Kannur and Calicut universities presided. Nissar Ahmed, chairman of Presidency Group of Institutions was present. Rauf Ahmed , Mehmood Ahmed and Vivekananda were the guests.
Addressing students, Rahiman said that it is very important to remember three things in student life. Firstly that they should have the knowledge of the subject they choose, secondly knowledge of computers and thirdly good communication skills. He stressed that the master key of education is a teacher.
Rauf Ahmed said that, “The purpose of education is to turn a mirror into a window.” He advised the students to believe in their teachers.
Alson Moniz and Vidya Bhat from Grade 9 spoke on behalf of the outgoing students and rest of the students, respectively. The theme ‘The School is my Oyster and my Individuality the Pearl ‘ was symbolically presented by introducing each student by their distinctive ambitions and qualities. As a sign of appreciation each student was presented with a memento.
“The strength of the school lies in the dedication, encouragement and support of the parents, said Prakash Rao, a parent sharing his thoughts and expressed that he was proud to be associated with the school.
As a valediction to the class of 2010 the school choir sang ‘Count your blessings.’ Helen Lobo rendered the vote of thanks.
