Udupi: Fisheries minister Kota Srinivas Poojary hands compensation cheque to Bhagyaraj's family

Udupi: Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary and Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat visited the house of Bhagyaraj, who committed suicide on June 10 due to the financial crisis arising due to the lockdown.

Bhagyaraj was the owner of a boat in Malpe. He had purchased it after taking a loan from the bank. But due to the lockdown and pandemic fishing was not a thriving business. Following this, Bhagyaraj faced immense financial crunch and thereby decided to end his life on his boat on June 10.



Earlier today, Fisheries minister Kota Srinivas Poojary handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lac to Bhagyaraj's family as compensation.

Yashpal Suvarna president of Fish Marketing Federation, Sharath Bailakere taluk panchayat member, Umesh Poojary president Badanidiyoor gram panchayat and others were present during the visit.
