Mangalore, Feb 9: It was a rare evening that allowed Carmelite priests and brothers of Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte exhibit their talent through a well-appreciated Konkani drama ‘Thuji Khushi Janv’ on Sunday February 7.
The play ‘Thuji Khushi Janv’ staged at amphitheatre of Kalaangann as presentation of 98th monthly theatre organized by Mandd Sobhann is a portrait of life of a priest. It gives a strong message to the audience, how difficult for a priest to manage a parish with people of different thoughts. Jam packed audience were awestruck as the reality f priest’s life was unfolded before them.
Over 25 Carmelite brothers and priests acted in this play written by Bro Sunny Fernandes, which was ably directed by Fr Deep Fernandes.
Earlier in the programme, a devotional CD ‘Bhorvoso’ was released by President of White Doves, Corin Rasquinha, The CD was produced by Lijo and Bunnu Fernandes of Good Times. Bannu has written the lyrics of all the hymns and is the co-composer with Lijo.
Louis Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario, gurkar of Mandd Sobhann and Fr Walter D’Mello, parish priest of Milargres were present during the release of the CD. This is the maiden attempt into music world by Bannu who is known for his decorations, settings and arrangements.
Louis Pinto honoured Fr George Santhumayor, superior of Infant Jesus Shrine. Bishop of Bellary Fr Henry D’Souza made a surprise visit to Kalaangann and watched the play. The monthly theatre was sponsored by Centenary Celebration Committee of Milargres Church.
