Puttur, Feb 8: In a theft reported on Monday February 8 at the residence of Udupi member of parliament D V Sadananda Gowda in Harady near Padeel here approximately 120 grams of gold ornaments and cash was stolen.
According to town police, the offenders gained into the entry the house in the intervening hours of Sunday February 7 and Monday February 8. The offenders entered the house through the backdoor and rummaged the almirahs and tables inside the house.
Police found two suitcases in a dustbin nearby and recovered a gold bangle and a pair of earrings after a thorough search in the surrounding areas. D V informed the police that certain amount of cash has been stolen from almirah, but was unable to sum them.
DV was in the house till Sunday evening. At the time of the incident none were at home. The first floor of the house is rented to a family and they claimed ignorance to the occurrence of the incident. A watchman and a police guard, who were on duty too were unaware of the incident.
Assistant superintendent of police Chandragupta with his team inspected the house and have begun investigation. Dog squad and finger print experts were also summoned to the spot.
