Dharwas, Jun 12: Relating to raising pro-Pakistan slogans by three Kashmiri students at Hubballi, police inspector Jackson D'Souza, stands suspended for delay in filing chargesheet.
The Kashmiri students who were facing sedition case for shouting 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan were able to get bail easily because of the lapse on the part of the police in not filing chargesheet within the time limit prescribed. As per rules, investigating officers have to file chargesheet within 90 days in such cases. But Jackson D'Souza, inspector of Hubballi rural station, failed to comply with this requirement. As such, the second JMFC court at Hubballi granted conditional bail to the three Kashmiri students under section 167 (2) of Criminal Procedure Code.

All the three students have since been released from the Hidalga prison. Talib, Amir and Basit, who had hailed Pakistan, have been released on bail. There has been a public outcry against the release of the accused who are facing sedition charges. Leaders, people's representatives and people in general had criticised the police for their failure. Inspector general of police, Raghavendra Suhas, immediately suspended the inspector and ordered an investigation to find out the circumstances under which the Kashmiris secured bail.
