Mangaluru, Jun 11: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar, had proposed to visit Dakshina Kannada district prior to his taking over charge ceremony which he wanted to hold in a unique manner. However, the visit was cancelled at the last minute.

On Wednesday, June 10, Shivakumar wanted to come to the city, pay obeisance at Lord Gokarnanatha temple at Kudroli and also go to Dharmasthala. But because of heavy rains, the helicopter which left Bengaluru went back without coming to the city.

During his visit, Shivakumar also had planned to meet former union minister Janardhan Poojary and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes.

Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee president Harish Kumar said that Shivakumar is expected to come to the district in a couple of days.
