Orange alert sounded in Dakshina Kannada on June 13 and 14; heavy rains likely

Mangaluru, Jun 10: In the backdrop of possible heavy rains for the next four days in Dakshina Kannada district, the District Disaster Management Authority has announced ‘Yellow Alert’ on June 11 and 12 and ‘Orange Alert’ on June 13 and 14.

Rain is being experienced throughout Dakshina Kannada district for the last two days and since more rain is expected for the next two days as well, the ‘Orange Alert’ has been announced.

It stated that as per the forecast by Indian Meteorological Department and as monsoon is active in Kerala, Karnataka coast, and Malnad region, ‘Yellow Alert’ is sounded on June 11 and 12 and ‘Orange Alert’ on June 13 and 14.

The district administration has requested people to be alert. Citizens can call toll free number 1077 if they encounter problems relating to natural disasters.

    It's good that schools are shut here or else they would have got many holidays by believing these false predicting agencies, departments.
    There is not even 15 minutes of continous heavy rain till today during this monsoon season, but media says heavy rain in Mangalore etc.. etc..
    Let rain come, please don't give any alerts, because more rains & floods will not come in future, reasons known by all....

    When meterological department announce...on that day rain will fall less from normal days. Nisarga Cyclone not hit mumbai..where it gone at last...aa devare balla. Locusts again cross into india border from pak territory.
