Udupi: Facing financial crisis, Kabaddi player commits suicide

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupli, Jun 10: A youth, who reportedly had suffered heavy losses in fishing, committed suicide inside his boat on Wednesday June 10. The incident happened at Malpe port near here.

The person who killed himself has been identified as Bhagyaraj (27), a resident of Pavanjigudde in Badanidiyoor, Bailakere.

Bhagyaraj was working as writer for two boats owned by his father. Recently, he had raised a loan to build a house and also acquired a fishing boat. But because of the lockdown, he suffered heavy losses in business. Fish famine compounded his problems. Greatly upset by these developments, he hanged himself inside his boat that has been anchored at Malpe port.

Bhagyaraj was a skilled Kabaddi player. He went out of his house at 11 pm on Tuesday and later ended his life in the boat, the police said. A report about this unnatural death was filed at Malpe police station.

This is truly sad a young talented budding youth ends life. Well in today's situation all are facing huge financial crunch. Specially small business people, who have either availed loan or just begun with hope of doing business, are loosing hopes coz of loosing business.
It is not his fault to start a new business, coz he did not know this Corona would start. But then Union Finance Minister Madam had assured so many schemes to us who are Entrepreneurs. None of them are implemented, nor are we exempted from paying our EMI in the banks.
If other few countries can help citizens during this crisis, why not our Govt? Where are the 20lakh crores gone? Where is the PM Cares money going? Being citizens we do not even have a right to know transparency of these funds because very cleverly PM Cares fund is not being included in RTI.!!!
So are we being taken for a royal ride with sweet talks, heap pf continued lies made to be true, lighting of lamps, clapping hands etc. Do we still need to believe in our Governance?
God save us from Corona, more importantly save lakhs of people who have lost jobs are with thoughts that we can not even imagine. Save those people who have tendency to take away their own lives. Be with all of us dear God.

In 2008 when Congress was in power and the whole world was facing sever financial problems and loss of confidence, Congress govt., managed and steered the economy so well that not a single bank, an industry had to go out of business, leave alone people committing suicide. This is what we call as governance.
Today either it is full of lies, stunts, jokes, jumlaas, clappings, burning of candle and lot of fake news. Still some people think that India is doing well. Height of stupidity. All that progress we are witnessing is because of the excellent management of the country during Congress rule. Now on we will start to see the problems of last 6 years misrule.

PM boasts of building houses for the people of the country. What steps have been done by the MP's of Udupi and DK done for building houses? The economy is in a total mess, what happened to petrol and diesel prices with 275percent of tax on then. RIP we have lost a youngster

With base price of 18, we pay 275% taxes on petrol today! Bus fares increased by 15%, auto minimum increased to 30! Heavy job losses, hotel industry in doldrums, many small & mid sized hospitals in desperate financial position, wine shops biz down by 60%, no money flow!

Now when debtors who availed of 3 month moratorium are forced to pay down the EMIs with interest at a time, the chain of financial breakdowns will surface very heavily, many gullible people who are thinking their loans will be waived will have no place to hide!!

Most airlines slashed jobs heavily & put 50% paycut on retained employees... List goes on & on!

It will be a long & painful journey for middle class & poor!

In those difficult times, please try to stay away from negative thoughts and influences. It may be tough but not impossible.
Forget politics and think about your own life. Nobody can harm our mind and body without our own consent.
We get this life only once. For good or worse, we have to bear the fruits of ups and down with a hope of bright and sustainable future.

Talk to others during your low times. Talk to a kid, talk to a stranger, think about the 9 months someone had you in thier tummy, think about a pain you may never have or had, you will definitely find peace somewhere.

News of a Lost life only brings sorrow into lives of thier loved and closed ones.
Readers please spread this awareness of how each one's lives matters.
Only we the society have this superpower to break this chain.

Sad.Due to corona many people lost their income, jobs investment, and their companys or existence. This case too is not a exception. He must have taken the burden a bit too muc.As a young man instead of ending his life, could have gone other way.Boat could have sold for the present to pay off loan .(Boat or some fishing boat)Stop house building.or go to work on other boats ,lend boat to others so that he gets money flowing. One shouldnt throw off life.First think thrice before you throw off precious life.Heratfelt sympathys to the family. Now suecide too doesnt end problems.RIP you young man:

Why you politicise this incident? Have you not seen so many boats sailing? When he had his family business why he jumped into the same business that too with huge loan? House construction may wait

Govt. should give assurance to all people who had taken loan for the business and house.

Just by waiving off loan of a few billionaires who are related or connected to top people in the Political party will not sort out the issue.

As much as I have my grievances against the current government, we cannot blame everything that goes wrong under the sky onto it. We honestly do not know the complete circumstances with this gentleman, but it is in times like these that family, friends, community members and close network provide the support, understanding and the confidence of things getting better.

Not blaming anyone but not all of us have the ability to cope with the state of temporary failures. It is sad to comprehend that death is the only option out. RIP, fellow human being.

Agree with you Nadster, fair enough.

If Bhagyaraj had revealed it or if his family observed his activities then his friends / relatives could have helped him / convinced him or taken him for a good counselling with doctors where he could have avoided this step.

But these kind of incidents are increasing since last one year specially among business community and farmers . Hence Govt. should give them hopes and only Govt. can help financially at this stage.

Believe it or not, Post CORONA socioeconomic effects will be much more painful and prolonged & #1 will be suicides & mental illness mainly because of financial losses which is he the cause for a sudden breakdown of cash flow; all people were in deep crisis before CORONA with businesses down by 30%, but after CORONA, all businesses are down 70% straight!! Imagine the cascading effects of this on middle class & poor people! There will be an avalanche of.psychological problems post

The man committed suicide not bcoz of congress rule but bcoz of current state govt and more importantly central govt. which failed to address such issues. In a JUMLA our leader announced 20 lakhs crore package but a person like Bhagyaraj were forced to pay loan by Banks and had to end his life eventually.

You counted 48,20,69,00,00,000 (though its fake) but can you tell me where did 20 lakhs crore gone? Why didn't it reach the fisherman like Bhagyaraj…? where is the support for fisherman from centre/state govt? If congress did nothing "as per blind bhakts", why is BJP not doing anything????

Modi said MNREGA was a monumental failure of congress govt. but today he is allotting crores of money to this same program started by congress which is giving employment to millions even today during covid-19 crisis.

Yes, you are right modiji our dear pm was to bring back this wealth from looted congis and distribute it all Indians on average of 15 lakhs per person to all Indian origins, in regard the deal was given to MI 6 and James bond was called to investigate and bring back money to India and the whole deal was possible thanks to Subodh Shetty who personally knows James bond but later James bond lost interest and the case was handover to captain America and thanks to Mr Jaiswal from nitte who personally knows captain America but his shield lost somewhere and the case was handed over to the iron man and once again thanks to Mr Jaiswal from nitte.
last, what we knew that his iron suit is gone to repair in china once lockdown is lifted he will get his iron suit and start the investigation
