Bengaluru, Jun 10: The state high court ordered issuance of notice to the state government, asking it to provide details of steps undertaken to stick to the guidelines issued by the central government regarding coronavirus infection.
The city-based Letzkit Foundation has filed public interest litigation alleging violation of guidelines released by the union home ministry to regulate spread of coronavirus infection. A bench of Chief Justice A S Oka and Justice E S Indiresh, before which the petition came up for consideration, scrutinized the petition. The bench questioned the state how it has been permitting programmes of social get together and other programmes in the state even though the central government has released guidelines.
The bench noted that hotels, restaurants, temples, and malls have been permitted to open. It asked the state government to furnish details of steps undertaken by the government. It instructed that curfew from 7 pm to 5 am should be enforced as per central guidelines and wanted to know about steps taken to ensure this.
The bench adjourned hearing into the petition to June 12.
