Mangaluru: Ravishankar Mijar takes over as MUDA chairman

Mangaluru, Jun 9: The term of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA)'s masterplan - 2 will come to an end in 2021. This was stated by newly appointed chairman of MUDA, Ravishankar Mijar.

He was speaking after taking over charge of MUDA as its chairman at the MUDA office in the city on Monday June 8.

Mijar said that the review of master plan - 3 is under revision and it will be completed in one year. He also revealed that the master plan - 3 envisions development and requirements of the city in the next three decades.

"During my tenure here, priority will be given to provide all kinds of services including single site, approval of plans, land conversion, zone certification etc promptly. Ancient ponds and water bodies within the limits of the authority are being developed, out of which two ponds have been already developed. Six more ponds are under different stages of development. We will build one park at least in each of the wards in the city," he stated.

Mijar said that the work of fixing iron grill on the two sides of Ullal bridge is under way and it will be completed in six months. "I will try to establish technology parks at three spots towards providing additional employment opportunities. An extension is being developed at Konaje in 13.5 acres plot. The process of creating another extension in 45 acres of land near Chelairu has been started. We will try to improve the green zone in the city from the current 22 percent to 33 percent to match the government norm," he added.

Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs D Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty and Umanath Kotian, city mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty, former MLA Yogish Bhat, BJP district president Sudarshan Moodbidri, MUDA commissioner Deepak Kumar, several corporators and BJP leaders were present.
