Mangaluru: Police raid cards gambling den, 14 arrested

Mangaluru, Jun 8: The personnel of the city crime branch (CCB) here raided a spot where people had come together to engage in gambling through playing cards, and arrested 14 persons from the spot. The raid was conducted at the Crystal Home guest house on Anegundi second bend.

Main accused Kulur Chetan Kumar, Nikhil from Kalsanka Udupi, Chetan from Barke, Dheeraj from Ashoknagar, Sachin from Dambel, Surenda Bhandary from Chokkabettu, Kanakatla Muhammad Anwar, Bengare Muhammed Zubair, Nagesh Shriyan from Kavoor, Kulai Bharatesh Shriyan, Muhammed Imran from Jokatte, Konaje Muhammed Anwar, Hemanth from Bangrakulur, and Sathish Poojary from Kunjathbail were arrested.

Rs 1,75,200 in cash used by the arrested people for gambling, 18 mobile phones, and 52 playing cards were seized from the arrested persons.

The raid was conducted based on reliable information. The raiding team was led by CCB inspector Shivaprakash and sub-inspector Kabbalraj. For further investigation, the accused and the assets seized from them were handed over to Urwa police station.
