Mangaluru, Jun 8: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, visited Lord Manjunatheshwara temple at Kadir int he city on Monday June 8 morning and paid obeisance to the presiding deity.
Temples and other prayer centres, which were ordered to be closed down as a measure to control spread of coronavirus infection during March this year, have reopened for devotees today. However, restrictions like not touching idols, pillars, walls etc and non-dispensing of holy water at the temples besides social distancing and wearing of masks are in place.
Even churches and mosques have been permitted to open from today. A few prayer centres have sought a few days’ time to put in place arrangements before allowing devotees into the structures.
Kadri temple management has made arrangements like sanitizer, thermal screening etc as per the government instructions.
Poojary was accompanied by city mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar and a number of leaders and party functionaries during the visit.
