Udupi: Failure to admit infected person to hospital angers locals

Udupi, Jun 6: Locals were anguished as a virus infected person was not admitted to hospital even after 24 hours. He had arrived at Uchila, Kaup from Maharashtra and was in quarantine for 14 days. His residence at Uchila Polya road is sealed. However, he is still at home since last night without food. His wife alleged that local panchayat officials or others did not come to see him. However, it was reported in the newspaper that an infected person was admitted to the hospital.

Local taluk panchayat member U C Shekhabba confirmed that the patient has not been admitted to the hospital. He urged local officials to act immediately.

Kaup tahsildar Mohammed Isaq in his reaction said that they have sealed down the house of the infected person. Padubidri primary health official Dr B B Rao has been directed to admit the infected person in the hospital. “As the person should have been admitted yesterday, I will enquire,” he said.
