Mangalore, Feb 1: NEST (North East Students Team) in association with Sparsha Youth Counselling Centre organized North East Day Celebrations at Kalaangan, Shaktinagar here on Sunday January 31.
After inaugurating the programme Chief guest, Ln J K Rao, vice district governor spoke on patriotism in India and insisted on unity in diversity.
Roshan Castelino, president, Sparsha delivered the keynote address. Kaini, professor, Ballal College of Nursing, Ullal presided.
Dr Savitha Periera, lecturer, St Aloysius College conducted a session for the students on Scope and Future in NEST.
Around 100 North East students from 15 colleges in and around Mangalore attended the programme. Cultural programmes were presented by the students. Antony Veluveru, president, NEST proposed the vote of thanks.
Committee election for the new office bearers of NEST was conducted on the occasion. Sumithra from Mangala College was elected as the general secretary and Adi from A J Institute of Medical Sciences was elected as the president.
Deniz D’Silva, director, Sparsha and Philip Montero, former president of Milagres Lions Club among others were present.
