Bengaluru, Jun 5: The reach of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board’s digital campaign for creating public awareness on environmental issues covering over 25 lac people was warmly appreciated by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in Bengaluru on Friday.

He was addressing a programme organized by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board as part of the World Environmental Day observation at his home office of Krishna.

"It is very appropriate that the theme of this year’s World Environment Day is bio-diversity," he said pointing out that ecological and environmental balance could be maintained and sustainability ensured only when bio-diversity is maintained.

He said one of the positive benefits of the lockdown enforced all over the country following the COVID-19 pandemic was the substantial reduction in environmental pollution.

"We need to make concerted efforts to protect our environment and maintain bio-diversity," he added.

Environmental Song, YouTube Channel campaign and the user-friendly website of the State Pollution Control Board were operationalized during the function.

Forest Minister Anand Singh, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Kannada, Culture and Tourism Development Minister C T Ravi, Forest Department Additional Chief Secretary Sandhip Dave, Pollution Control Board Chairman Vijay Kumar Gogi and Member-Secretary Srinivasulu were among the dignitaries who attended the function.

Atmashakti Coop Society Mangaluru’s Contribution

Muzrai and Fisheries Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary presented a cheque for Rs 25,000 on behalf of the Atmashakti Multi-purpose Cooperative Society of Mangaluru to Yediyurappa towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
