Mangalore, Feb 1: City-based Mulageni Okkalu Rakshana Vedike convened a meeting at NGO Hall on Sunday January 31.
Vedike president Maxim D’Silva briefed the members about the developments with respect to abolition of Mulageni and protection for Mulageni tenants from eviction, which was assured by the state home minister Dr V S Acharya when the delegation presented a memorandum on June 7, 2009 in the city.
“Further, nearly 5,000 Mulageni tenants and members of Vedike, undertook a postcard campaign and representations have been submitted to chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, revenue minister G Karunakar Reddy, opposition party leader and also Governor H R Bharadwaj, who have responded to our representation”, added D’Silva.
“Meanwhile, a delegation headed by Vedike’s legal advisor A P Gowri Shanker and representatives of the committee will meet Yeddyurappa and Governor H R Bharadwaj, upon their intimation shortly”, he added.
Vedike secretary Jagdish explained the grievances of the members to the gathering.
Lawyer A P Gowri Shanker also enlightened the members with tips to pursue their cause.
Vedike vice-president Joseph Saldanha explained about the action plan taken by the committee members.
Vishanth D’Souza, a member of the Vedike, proposed the vote of thanks.
