Mangalore, Jan 30: Corporation Bank has won Banking Technology Awards 2009 for its efforts in implementing innovative technologies in its business initiatives under the auspices of the Indian Banks Association [IBA], Finacle and the Trade Fairs & Conference International [TFCI].
The Award was received on behalf of the bank by B R Bhat, general manager at Mumbai on Thursday January 28
The bank has been conferred the Winner Award in the Best Online & Multichannel Banking Initiative Category in recognition of its outstanding achievement in Banking Technology in the year 2009 amongst public sector banks.
Corporation Bank, one of the highly technology-driven banks with a host of tech-savvy products & services has made it possible to outreach from the remotest rural masses to corporate elite with global standards.
It has been making constant strides in implementing innovative IT initiatives and is one of the first Public Sector Banks to bring all its functional units under the centralized Core Banking system way back in the year 2007.
It has launched various innovative products or services like NEFT [Funds transfer] through ATMs, Campus Card, Payment of LIC premium through Mobile, Internet and ATM, SMS Banking etc. Corporation Bank is the first Bank in the country to launch Income Tax Payment through CorpBank ATMs which is a revolutionary initiative in the industry by a Bank.
It has been aggressively pursuing Financial Inclusion to extend the outreach of its rural branches and to provide basic banking facilities to the financially excluded sections of the society. The bank has nearly 1,000 branchless banking units across the country and has plans to increase the facility to 2,000 villages by the end of the current fiscal.
