Mangaluru, Jun 3: National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived in the city on Tuesday, June 2 in order to handle the natural calamities that may occur during monsoon in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.
The NDRF team which consists of 25 members is residing in Scouts Bhavan at Pilikula on the outskirts of the city. It will work along with the district administration.
The state government had decided to deploy NDRF battalion to combat the flood and fury of nature during the rainy season efficiently in many districts of the state.
Taking into account the disasters that have taken place in the past two years, the NDRF battalion is deployed in four centres in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Belagavi and Dharwad.
The battalion, which is deployed in Dakshina Kannada district will monitor Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts also. The battalion which is stationed at Kodagu will monitor the calamities that may take place in the districts of Mysuru, Hassan and other districts of Malnad region. The NDRF team that is deployed in Belagavi center will also monitor Bagalkot, Vijayapura and nearby districts. Dharwad battalion will monitor Gadag, Haveri and nearby districts.
