Mangaluru, Jun 2: Courts in the city and Udupi have started functioning from Monday, June 1 onward after remaining shut for about two and a half months.
The entire district court complex was sanitized on Sunday with the aim of restricting the spread of coronavirus infection. Only judges, advocates and court staff had access to the court building.
The high court has directed that 50 per cent of courts should function on alternative days. Therefore, half of the courts conducted proceedings on Monday. As per high court instruction, 10 cases were taken up in the morning session and 10 more in the afternoon. Lawyers represented their clients in the court. Advocates and court staff were subjected to thermal screening and body sanitization when entering the court buildings.
As dress code was prescribed, they wore whites on Monday.
