Mangaluru: Kundapur, Beltangady get heavy rainfall

Mangaluru, Jun 1: Many areas in coastal Karnataka and a few places in north interior Karnataka got good rainfall on Sunday. Kundapur in Udupi district recorded four cm rainfall.

Places like Honnavar, Kota, Ankola, Karwar also got two to three cm of rainfall. Three cows including a grownup calf died at Kamgoli area of Hengavalli village in Kundapur due to lightning. They belonged to Santosh Shetty from Kamgoli. The loss in this incident has been estimated to be about Rs 1 lac.

Hebri and surrounding areas got rainfall for about five hours. The rain was accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Due to heavy rain which was experienced in places like Charmady, Kukkavu, Mundaje and Neriya in Beltangady taluk on Sunday evening, the water level in River Netravati at Eluvare Halla rose and water entered nearby plantations. River Mrutyunjaya also saw water level going up due to rainfall in the Charmady area.
