Mangaluru, May 29: In connection with the incident in which the baby of a pregnant lady who came from Dubai and had been quarantined could not be saved allegedly due to the negligence of doctors, the lady's family members met the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday May 28.

They urged DC Sindhu B Rupesh to issue directions to make sure that as soon as the first reports of aged individuals and pregnant women are found to be coronavirus negative, the flat associations should allow them to complete their home quarantine period there. They also wanted to make it compulsory for private doctors to treat such people. They also requested her to see that pregnant women coming in henceforth do not encounter similar problems.

The DC who gathered details of the incident, promised to get the matter investigated. IAS officer Rahul Shindhe, urban development cell project director Gayatri Nayak, and others were present.

The woman's family was represented by Aziz Bastikar, Ashraf Bastikar, Azhar Bastikar, and Muhammed Unais.
