Udupi, May 28: “We see boards stating ‘Halal’ in several hotels in the country. ‘Halal’ is a belief of Muslims. Muslims say that they should eat only meat made Halal. Muslims should slaughter animals facing the direction of Mecca reciting prayers from the Quran. The slaughterer should observe Sharia, etc,” stated district BJP president Kuilady Suresh Nayak.
“However how far is it right to make Hindus eat mutton and chicken made Halal in Hindu hotels with boards written as Halal? Is it an attempt to thrust Sharia law on Hindus? Will, it not hurt the sentiments of majority Hindus? Therefore, any Hindu hotels with ‘Halal’ boards and if ‘Halal’ is mentioned on food packets, those are meant only for those who follow Sharia law and not for Hindus. Hindus should boycott them,” stated Kuilady Suresh Nayak in a press release.
