Mangaluru/Udupi, May 27: As many as 11 tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Wednesday, May 27. Another 9 tested positive in Udupi. Three patients were discharged in DK on Wednesday.

As reported earlier, seven females and four males were tested positive in DK. While 10 of them travelled from Maharashtra, one has travelled from Gujarat. Three patients do be discharged were 26-year-old man from Udupi-Karkala, 50-year-old woman from Udupi-Karkala, and 38-year-old woman from Someshwar.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,264 people have been screened so far including 163 on Wednesday. As many as 47 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Another 27 are quarantined in ESI hospital.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 8,047 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 6,699 tested negative, and 81 positive, out of which 45 are currently active. As many as 29 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.

Out of the 81 positive cases, 73 are from Dakshina Kannada and eight patients are from other districts.

As many as 517 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 321 samples were received on Wednesday out of which 310 were negative and 11 positive.

Reports of 1,267 samples are awaited. As many as 20 people have been admitted for observation.

A total of 4,254 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Wednesday, 14 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.

Udupi

As reported earlier, nine people tested positive in Udupi on Wednesday. All had returned from Maharashtra and were under quarantine. Seven males and two females are the ones to be tested positive.

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,638 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 42 on Wednesday, and a total of 4,590 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 118 on Wednesday. As many as 109 persons are currently in home quarantine and 8,168 are under institutional quarantine.

Altogether, 61 high-risk persons and 25 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 94 people are in isolation wards, including 16 fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among them, five are coronavirus suspect, while eight others have SARI and three influenza-like illness.

As many as 649 people, including 25 on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 10,945 samples have been collected so far, including 1,158 on Wednesday, among whom 37 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 3,811 samples have turned out to be negative, and 7,016 reports are awaited. As many as 120 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 116 are active.

Kasargod

A total of 10 people were reported to have been infected with coronavirus in the district on Wednesday. Over eight people arriving from Mumbai, of which two women including a woman from abroad have contracted the infection.

Meanwhile, Vorkady, Menja, Manjeshwar, Mangalpady, have recorded one case each of coronavirus, with Chemnad in Kasaragod district reporting three cases of the infection.

On Wednesday, two people were discharged, they are the residents of Kumbla and Kodom Belur Panchayat. Currently, there are 3,369 people in the district. Of these, 572 have placed in the isolation ward.
