Kundapur, May 27: In an incident that occurred at Guddammadi of Senapur village in the taluk, a man died when he accidentally fell into a well.

Walter D'Almeida (52) is the unfortunate person who lost his life in this incident. His brother who tried to rescue him by getting down into the well is seriously injured and is admitted to the hospital.

Daily wage labourers and brothers Walter and Alban had come to repair well near Guddammadi temple in the morning on Wednesday May 27. During work, Walter fell into the well when he lost balance. Alban got down into the well to rescue his brother. But both suffered due to lack of oxygen in the well.

Locals immediately informed the matter to fire service personnel. Kundapur fire service personnel rushed to the spot and lifted both brothers from the well. However, Walter had breathed his last by then and Alban was in serious condition. He is admitted to the hospital and is said to be responding to the treatment.

The well is 20 feet deep and five feet wide. As it is narrow, there is lack of oxygen at the bottom. Both brothers are said to be hard workers and used to lead life by doing daily wage and agricultural related work.

Walter D'Almeida is survived by wife and child. Gangolli station officer Bheemashankar visited the spot.
