Mangaluru, May 26: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has opposed the decision of the state cabinet to allow construction of public transport hub at Pumpwell under public-private participation (PPP) model.
DYFI district secretary Santosh Bajal said that his organization vehemently opposes this proposal.
He said that there are many avenues to pool resources for the bus station like diverting smart city grant, raising Asian Development Bank loan, and state government grant for executing this project. Instead of utilizing these opportunities, the government unjustifiably opted to go for PPP model, he rued.
"DYFI demands to drop the said anti-people decision and make sure that the bus station is built under the supervision of the city corporation. A special session of the city corporation, a district-level meeting of all the parties should be convened and detailed discussions should be held. The popular opinion should be pooled and respected," he demanded.
