5-year-old boy flies back home alone after 2 months

Bengaluru, May 25 (IANS): A 5-year-old boy flew back to the city alone on Monday after being stuck in Delhi for two months with his grandparents. The boy had gone to Delhi around three months ago, but was stuck there for the past two months as domestic flight services were suspended due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

"Welcome home, Vihaan (Sharma)! Bengaluru airport is constantly working towards enabling the safe return of all passengers," tweeted an official of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on his return.

Wearing a yellow jacket and mask, the young boy carried a placard reading ‘special category' passenger.

With gloves on, Sharma held a cellphone in his left hand to reunite with his mother, Manjeesh Sharma, who came to pick him up.

After the reunion, Manjeesh was seen rolling a suitcase and also carrying a backpack belonging to the young boy. She told the media at the airport, "My five-year-old son Vihaan Sharma has travelled alone from Delhi. He has come back to Bengaluru after three months."

Domestic flights of a few airlines resumed from this tech city on a cautious note on Monday after they were grounded for over two months due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

The airport operator -- Bangalore International Airline Ltd (BIAL) -- has geared up to handle around 215 air traffic movements per day, including 108 departures and 107 arrivals.

Feel very bad to hear five year old boy was sent/travelled alone from Delhi to mangalore.he is so alone .wish he could have been sent with a air hostess accompanying him. There are such fecilities instead of sending a five ear child alone ,carrying suitcase with back pack and with a schild in hand.Sure he must wear mask and gloves. still he is in heart and mind child.how lonely he must have felt can only imagine.I appriciate him for his courage and brave heart.wish him all the best.

Quite embarrasing to see this headline amid my heart wrenches to watch the journey of small kids of poor migrants way back thier homes. Earlier fews days back Mary Kom celeberated her sons birth day hit the headlines which is also a disgrace moment for the celebraty.

Everyone will have a story to say when this pandemic gets over. Some are a little fortunate like this kid and then there are some very unfortunate children like the ones walking miles towards thier hometown barefoot. But the desperation in their heart seems the same!!
