Mumbai: ‘Tulu Rathna’ Jayarama Shetty Surathkal passes away

Mumbai, May 23: Veteran hotelier of Gujarat, entrepreneur and popular social worker, Jayarama Shetty Surathkal (82) passed away at his Kusuma Nivas, Ellora Park, Baroda residence on Friday night May 22.

He was a generous donor, founder president of Tulu Sangha, Baroda, president of Karnataka Sangha, Baroda, president of Al Industries Catering Association and actively served in several local groups and associations. Chembur Karnataka Sangha honoured him with the annual ‘Arate Nagamma Sheshappa Poojary Memorial Award’ in a Sahitya Sahavasa programme in December 2019.

He left behind his wife Kusuma Shetty, three daughters, a large number of friends and relatives. His last rites were held at Vadivadi crematorium, Baroda this morning. Tulu Sangha Baroda president, Shashidhar B Shetty, honorary president, Dayananda Bontra, honorary chief secretary, Balakrishna Shetty, Chandrahasa Shetty, hotelier, Sudhakar Shetty, Karnataka Sangha Baroda president, Narasimhan Murthy and office bearers, several elite people paid their last respects and paid homage on his demise. Tulu Sangha Ahmedabad honorary president, Mohan C Poojary, S K Haleangady and several elite people expressed their condolences.
