Ivory Coast drug peddler arrested in Bengaluru


Bengaluru, May 22 (IANS): A drug peddler from Ivory Coast in Africa has been arrested in the city, an official said on Friday.

"The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested a suspected drug peddler, an Ivory Coast national, and seized cocaine and MDMA," said an official in a statement.

Police have seized 50 gm cocaine and 13 gm MDMA or ecstasy, worth around Rs 4 lakh from Assi Aya Basile (31).

"Case has been registered in Hennur police station under Sections 8C, 21(B), 22(B) under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act," said the official.

Basile was also booked under Section 14 of Foreigners Act.

Another Rs 4 lakh cash was seized from where Basile was living.

"Basile was staying illegally in Hormavu - Agara village in Bengaluru city after his business visa expired," the official said.

CCB Joint Commissioner Sandeep Patil and Deputy Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Jain supervised the raid.
