Kundapur, May 21: The Laxmi Soma Bangera Memorial Maternity ward donated by Dr G Shanker Family Trust in taluk government hospital is converted to a COVID-19 hospital on directions from the district administration here. The administration took requisite steps on Thursday in this connection. Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha visited the hospital premises.

Sub-divisional officer K Raju said that COVID positive patients will be admitted and treated at the hospital. The hospital is equipped to admit 100 patients. All the necessary changes for the treatment will be conducted in association with the district health department.

Maternity ward patients admitted in the ward earlier have been shifted to the old ward.

The hospital is of government taluk sub-divisional level. Before the outbreak of corona pandemic, 400 to 500 outpatients and 90 to 100 in-patients used to visit the hospital. Their number has decreased after the pandemic.
