Udupi, May 19: Dr Avinash Shetty medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal announced that the testing of COVID-19 had commenced from Tuesday, May 19. Kasturba Medical College and Hospital received a nod from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct tests of the samples of COVID-19. This makes it the first hospital (government or private) in Udupi district to get ICMR approval for COVID-19 testing.
"Approval of a new testing facility will help in getting quick reports of COVID-19 tests, as it will cater to samples collected from Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. This will also ease the pressure on government testing centre at Mangaluru and Shivamogga. The laboratory will function round the clock," Dr Shetty said.
Aadhar number will be compulsory for all the patients who come to the hospital. Another regulation would be wearing masks, which will be mandatory for all. Only one attendant will be allowed along with the patient.
