Hassan, May 19: In a tragic incident which happened at Rajagere village in Halebeedu revenue division in Belur taluk, an ambulance driver, who was bitten by a snake, neglected it as he thought it was a mouse which bit him. But, he ended up paying for this negligence with his life.

The man had visited his field on Sunday morning when he felt that something bit his foot. As his land had several burrows dug by the mice he thought that a mouse might be the culprit. He continued to work in the field for an hour more or so. After he suffered from symptoms of exhaustion, he went by motorbike to Halebeeu hospital, told the doctor that a mouse perhaps bit him, and was administered with an injection. He continued to suffer from symptoms like sweating, eyes getting blurred. He then rushed to Belur hospital and tried to get first aid. But by then his mouth began to froth. He was taken to Hassan hospital but the poison had already reached interiors of his body and he died.

He is survived by wife, and two children aged two years and six months.
