Udupi, May 18: A proposal of Rs 415 crores for supply of clean drinking water to each house in the villages was approved for submission to the state government in the meeting chaired by zilla panchayat president Dinaker Babu.

The Jala Jeevan project 2024 is meant to provide 55 liters drinking water to every individual per day on all the 365 days of the year. A proposal of Rs 415 crore in this connection is submitted to the state government. The proposal will be submitted to the centre from the state government for approval. An action plan is prepared so that no house in the rural area is deprived of the project, said Dinaker Babu.

The drinking water will be provided to Anganwadis, schools and hospitals in the village limits, said zilla panchayat chief executive Preeti Geylot.

Rural drinking water and hygiene department engineer Raja and other department officials were present.
