Kundapur, May 15: "Those arriving from outside the state and staying in quarantine centers are neither patients nor prisoners. We must provide them with food and snacks on time. Arrange to prepare food near the centers. They will not be able to get their food on time if food has to be transported from distant places. There are several complaints in this connection. Set right the anomalies," directed MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty to the officials.
He addressed a meeting at Kundapur taluk auditorium on May 15 for panchayat development officials and officials about quarantine facilities.
"There are complaints that dinner reached Kundapur Nehru maidan quarantine center at 11 pm last night. Local elected representatives should utilize panchayat, school SDMC and local organizations to provide food on time."
Former president of Thekkate gram panchayat, Malyadi Shivarama Shetty suggested that food can be supplied through Akshara Dasoha to quarantines held in schools and high schools. The temples which supply food at present can be asked to supply groceries."
The MLA accepted the suggestion of Malyadi. "Nobody can oppose quarantine. Even if educated people oppose them, lodge a complaint against them," said the MLA to the officers.
Kundapur block Congress president, Hariprasad said that it is better to use high schools for quarantines as far as possible. Akshara Dasoha rooms are large and there are sufficient rooms and toilets there.
Tahsildar Tippeswamy said that there are 1040 people in quarantine in Kundapur taluk. 470 of them are in government hostels. Food is being supplied to them from the Angegudde temple.
ASP Hariram Shanker said that 1278 people are under quarantine in 27 centers at Kundapur circle. "Police personnel are visiting the centers. We have used home guards. Sub inspectors are also visiting each centre. Nobody else should enter the centres. If anybody gets food from houses, the vessels should be taken only after washing them."
Kiran Kodgi, Suresh Shetty Kadoor, Bhasker Billava and others gave suggestions.
