Udupi, May 15: Owners of Jayalaxmi Silks, Udyavara near here, have complained to Kaup police about malicious campaign carried out against the firm by a person who reportedly twisted an advertisement it had released earlier.
It is said that Jayalaxmi Silks has been following the lockdown norms as per government guidelines by strictly following social distance and free vehicle transportation.
"A person, identified as Akbar Mohammed, twisted a part of the publicity campaign carried out by the store and posted on Facebook with the heading that said that the firm did not need customers from a particular community. The complainant mentioned that because of this, customers have been dithering from visiting their showroom. Copies of the complaint have been sent to Udupi district superintendent of police and state home minister, Basavaraj Bommai.
Inspector of cyber, economic, and narco (CEN) offences station, Seetharam, said that this complaint will be settled in the local station level as this is not a serious offence. He said that major cases like cyber crimes and large scale crimes can be transferred to CEN station through the superintendent of police.
