Kasargod, May 14: The coronavirus was found in ten people in the district including two health care staff, an elected representative, a social worker, two children and four members of a family. Increase in the number of infected in the third stage has given rise to anxiety. Though the district was free from the virus, increase in the number of infected in third stage has become a challenge for district administration and health department. Staff members of Kasargod district hospital and general hospital are included in the infected.
The virus is confirmed in the social worker who brought in his car Paivalike resident who had arrived from Mumbai on May 4, his wife who is elected representative and their eleven-year-old and eight-year-old children.
The virus was confirmed two days ago on the person who arrived from Mumbai. Now four people in the house of the person who had brought them are also infected. Social worker had travelled to several places and contacted many people. The health department and district administration have taken the case seriously. It is said that elected representative also had contacted many people.
The virus is confirmed in two people in Kumble, a person from Kallar and a person in Kasargod council limits on Thursday. Kallar resident had arrived from Bengaluru. As many as 1,428 people are under observation in the district. A total of 1,211 among them are at homes and 217 in the hospital. 35 people are admitted in isolation ward on Thursday. Eighty-nine people have completed their duration. Samples of 5,215 people in the district have been sent for lab tests so far. Results of 4,928 were negative. Results of 47 people are awaited.
Police security to prevent those who illegally infiltrate through inner roads from Karnataka to Kerala is intensified. Twenty-two personnel from Manjeshwar police station, nine from Adoor and reserve police force police are deployed at Talapady border and three places at Badiadka.
Police personnel are deployed at Bandadka, Manimoole and Panathur also. Eight people who arrived violating quarantine rules during the last two days are taken into custody and sent to government quarantine center.
