Vijayapura, May 14: In a strange incident which happened at Ainapura Tanda near Mahal in the outskirts of the city, a school teacher was taken into custody by the police after he bit the ear of a police constable.
As migrant workers are returning to their home district Vijayapura, tahsildar Mohanakumari, visited the said Tanda to supervise arrangements. The tahsildar sought key of the community hall located at the Tanda for creating quarantine facility for the people coming from other states.
When Babu Kadani, police constable of Vijayapura rural station, asked the teacher of private school Suresh Chauhan to give him the keys, the teacher refused to comply, saying that he will give the key only after consulting the concerned. After the two exchanged some questionable words, Chauhan all of a sudden bit the ear of the constable.

Tahsildar Mohanakumari taken aback by this incident, filed complaint in Vijayanagara rural station upon which the teacher was arrested. The teacher has been booked under section 353 of Indian Penal Code. The teacher has also been accused of using abusive language against government officials.
Deputy commissioner of the district Y S Patil said that the officials who are expected to work for the welfare of the people will face strict action if they obstruct others from discharging their duties.
