Panaji, Jan 13: A group of congress disgruntled legislators have racked up demand for leadership change and have gunned for the head of chief minister Digamber Kamat in Goa.
Congress sources maintained that legislators including Churchill Alemao, Pandurang Madkaikar, Aleixo Lourenco Reginaldo, Fransisco Silveira attended the confidential meeting which was held near Miramar beach this evening.
The legislators are demanding that Digamber Kamat be replaced with a new face as chief minister. They have lost faith in him.
Congress legislators’ rebellious move stems from the discontent expressed by group of seven non congress MLAs who have extended support to the government. Three NCP, Two Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and two independents including Vishwajit Rane and Atanasio Monserratte, had initiated a move against the chief minister.
Monserratte was on the record stating that the chief minister has failed to deliver and hence he may press for leadership change.
Party sources stated that the congress group will meet group of seven legislators tomorrow and are likely to place the formal letter seeking leadership change.
Kamat was not available for his comment as he is away in the national capital.
