Margao, Jan 11: “Students play a pivotal role in supplementing the efforts of the government to conserve the environment and maintain ecological balance”, said power and environment minister Aleixio Sequeira.
He was addressing the students after inaugurating an exhibition cum seminar on ‘Climate Change and its Impacts’ organized by Lourdes Convent High School, Saligao here on Monday January 11.
He encouraged the students to develop love for the environment and actively participate in environmental programmes which are essential to protect the planet earth. He stressed the need to reduce environmental pollution and save environment and ecology for the benefit of future generation.
He added that students should pass on the information regarding environmental protection like judicious use of energy and water, disposal of garbage and so on to their parents and friends.
Goa State Planning Board chairman Dr Wilfred D’souza said that such workshops can enable the participants to gain valuable knowledge on climate change. He stressed the need for more number of research and findings to deal with environmental problems.
