Kundapur, May 12: A Tempo Traveller carrying a family returning to Kundapur from Mumbai caught fire while on road. The incident is said to have occurred on Monday, May 11.
The 11 member family who belong to Tariberu in Vandse village of Kundapur taluk began their journey from Bhandup with help from the Seva Sindhu app. The fire was noticed from the TT steering wheel once the vehicle reached Lonavala after being on the road for three and a half hours. The raging fire engulfed the vehicle within a few minutes. However, all the people in the vehicle escaped unhurt as the driver was quick response averted a disaster from happening.
The fire could not be contained as there was not a fire extinguisher since the passengers were in the middle of nowhere. The vehicle ended up getting gutted in front of their eyes.
Minister extends help
Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary extended help to the family who was left stranded because of the mishap. Keshav Poojary and his family who suffered the disaster directly called the minister's close aide Prakash and explained the situation. Responding to the family's call for help, Prakash called on the leaders of the local organizations through minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary. With the cooperation of local police, they were dropped till Nipani. The family then continued their journey in a vehicle arranged by the Kota Poojary.
The incident has left the family in shock. However, the family was overjoyed as they were happy to return to Karnataka with the permission Seva Sindhu app.
