Inter-district pass not required for people working in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Udupi (ANK/SHP)

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 11: The state government has issued an order allowing the movement of people working in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi between 7 am to 7 pm without the necessity of an inter-district pass.

The order maintained that the twin districts will be considered as a single unit. The same has been also conveyed to the district administration of DK and Udupi.

Employees will be allowed to travel between the two districts on furnishing a letter or an identity card issued by their respective company.

Meanwhile, it has been observed by authorities that some touts have contacted passengers who have registered themselves to travel out of the Udupi District to their respective state. These men have been accused of extracting money from the people, claiming that they would arrange for transportation. The deputy commissioner's office or the Karnataka government has clarified saying that they have not nominated any person to contact the registered passengers. Only nodal officer Prasanna Bhakta, senior deputy directors, Local Audit Circle, Udupi and Dayananda, district officer, Backward Classes Welfare Department, Udupi have been authorised to provide information or clear doubts of people who are travelling outside Udupi to go to other states.

People have been requested to report incidents of touts to the nodal officer Prasanna Bhakta, senior deputy directors, Local Audit Circle, Udupi (Mobile no: 9448983507) and Dayananda, district officer, Backward Classes Welfare Department, Udupi (Mobile no: 9448725747) or 1077.
