Mangaluru, May 11: As part of the Vande Bharat Mission, the first flight from Dubai to Mangaluru with 177 passengers on board is scheduled to arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 at 10 pm, said IAS officer Rahul Shinde.
Shinde was addressing a meeting held at Mangaluru City Corporation on Monday, May 11. The probationary IAS officer has been given the charge of the handling of the quarantine facilities for those being repatriated.
The district administration stated that necessary arrangements were made to receive the repatriated Indians and that different measures including health check-up would be carried out on their arrival at the airport.
Around 177 passengers are slated to arrive on the first flight to Mangaluru from Dubai. Over 17 hotels and 12 hostels have been arranged to quarantine the passengers. Officials who have been deployed at Mangaluru airport are directed to collect all the necessary information from the passengers.
Officials are appointed to receive the passengers, and look after hotel bookings, arranging transport and ferrying the passengers to the quarantine centres. Shinde also instructed the officials to visit all these points and provide information.
Further, the passengers would be classified under A and B category, based on the symptoms. Passengers who display signs of fever, cough, and cold will be identified under Category A. Such passengers will be directly moved to Wenlock hospital for 14 days of quarantine.
The passengers who are asymptomatic will be placed under hotel and hostel quarantine. The repatriated Indians will be allowed to make a selection concerning their choice of quarantine centres (hotel or hostels). They can select the hotel of their choice for which online booking facility will be arranged at the airport. Once the bookings have been made, they will be transported to the specific hotel arranged for quarantine.
