Bantwal, May 11: In an incident which happened at Kukkipady, Bantwal taluk, on Monday, May 11, an attempt was made to attack an ASHA worker with a broom. The worker in question had objected to the gathering that had assembled in front of a house in the village in violation of social distancing norms.
The person accused of the attack happens to be Shreemathi from Kukkipady. Reportedly, Shreemathi's husband Vishwanath, practices witchcraft and solves problems of people who approach him for solutions.
Observing that a number of people keep visiting the residence of Vishwanath without following the norms on maintaining distance between one another, the ASHA worker in question, identified as Pushpalata, who faced the wrath of the lady, then got in touch with Kukkilpady gram panchayat member Yogeesh Acharya. When Acharya came to the spot, an attempt to attack him was also reportedly made. The woman also raised choices abuses at the ASHA worker and aggressively moved to attack her again, it is said.
The incident happened within the limits of Punjalkatte police station. A case was registered.
