Bengaluru, May 10: In a viral video that has surfaced from Bengaluru, two men can be seen getting assaulted by a civilian. Bengaluru policemen who were present on the scene can be seen as mute spectators to the assault, and at one point a cop also partakes in the assault and is seen kicking the men.
The two men from the Padarayanapura area have been accused of pulling off dangerous stunts on the scooter. Several pedestrians have claimed to have narrowly escaped injuries every time the men attempted to defy road safety. The incident happened on Saturday, May 9 at Kodigehalli station limits.
The first time they were intercepted by the police, they were let off with a warning. However, as soon as they were let go, they sped up and pulled a stunt in defiance, sources said.
The assault captured in the video was the second time the men were pulled over.
In the clip, a policeman is seen reprimanding the men saying, "Did I not warn you to drive carefully?"
In response to which, the men admit saying, "Yes, you had warned".
Several abusive words are then hurled by the policemen on the men as they continue to whimper.
The video also captures a man emerging with a cricket bat and with one swing attacking one of the two men on the leg. The brute force causes the man to collapse and squirm in pain. Another policeman then intervenes and scolds the vigilante. The police have identified both the policeman and the vigilante.
"We have secured the person who had assaulted the riders with a cricket bat. The policeman who had intervened has also been identified," senior Bengaluru police officer Dr Bhemshankar Guled said.
