Mangaluru, May 9: Yenepoya Medical College Hospital in Deralakatte became the first private hospital in Dakshina Kannada district to get coronavirus (COVID-19) testing approval.
The lab at the well-known hospital has received the nod from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct tests for COVID-19.
Dakshina Kannada will now have two centres for COVID-19 tests. The first one to being district Wenlock hospital and now Yenepoya Medical College Hospital added to the list.
ICMR has approved 33 testing centres in which 21 are government hospitals and 12 are private hospital in Karnataka.
Having two centres in the district will help in getting quick reports of COVID-19 tests, as samples are being collected from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttar Kannada. This will also avoid pressure on Wenlock hospital’s testing centre.
