Mangalore, Jan 8: Like the citizens who are compelled to live with the over speeding, ever-competing and erratically driven private buses in the city, the district deputy commissioner (DC), who himself has received several complaints about these things, had a first-hand experience of these things on Thursday January 7.
As the DC was moving towards the zilla panchayat complex located near Urwa Store in his Ambassador car to attend a meeting on Thursday afternoon, a private service bus bound for Udupi hit his car at Urwa Stores. While his car suffered some damages, he did not suffer any injuries.
The people immediately gathered on the spot. Policemen of both traffic and Urwa police stations appeared on the scene confiscated the bus. The DC, after recovering from the sudden development, moved to the venue of the meeting in another car.
When contacted later, the Urwa policemen at first, feigned ignorance about such an incident. However, later they agreed that this minor incident was closed through a compromise. It is learnt that the bus owners have taken upon the responsibility of repairing the car of the DC. However, till late in the evening, the district superintendent of police, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, was unaware of the incident.
