Bellary, Jan 6: In a report received with delay, it is learnt that a Sandur junior magistrate first class court in the district has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against state minister, G Janardhan Reddy, who owns Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) along with others, and Rayadurg MLA, Ramachandra Reddy, who is a director of the said company. The warrant was issued on December 31, 2009, after the court found that the duo remained absent from successive court hearings since long. They had been summoned to the court hearings relating to a case in which OMC has been charged with destroying the border markers between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka during mining operations.
Tapal Narayan Reddy, who owns T N R Mines operating in the taluk, had filed a complaint at Torangal police station in the taluk, accusing five people including Janardhan Reddy and Ramachandra Reddy, of destroying the border stones at the state border, with intent to conduct illegal mining. They were also charged with posing death threat and gathering crowd and assaulting the petitioner.
In the year 2007, the Torangal policemen had filed charge sheet in the court. Both the accused had obtained anticipatory bail from the court in 2006 and 2007. After that, they remained absent from court hearings for two years. The judge of the court, K K Amarnath, who held the hearing on December 31, issued non-bailable arrest warrants against both of them.
