MANGALORE, Jan 6 (The Hindu) : A group of about six Hindutva activists, claiming to be from the Bajrang Dal, allegedly barged into Kurnad Government Pre-University College here on Monday evening and disrupted the Talents Day function.
Vasudev Kamath, Principal of the college, told The Hindu that the activists had a problem with “Hindu girls dancing on stage in front of Muslim boys in the audience. Some of these intruders were under the influence of alcohol.After about 30 minutes, they relented on the condition that no Muslim boy in the audience should clap while the girls danced.”
Kamath said the intruders disconnected power cables and plunged the programme into darkness.He said that he had filed a complaint at the Konaje police station the same evening. Superintendent of Police A.S. Rao said that the local police were taking action against the accused.
