Dr K G Jagadish, an IAS officer, who recently functioned as the commissioner of Gulbarga City Corporation and special officer of the new district, has been appointed as the deputy commissioner of this new district. The new district has a population of 9, 56,180. Yadagiri, Surpur and Shahapur taluks, which formed part of Gulbarga district so far, will henceforth function as the taluks of the newly formed district.
