Udupi, Apr 25: District in-charge secretary Maheshwar Rao directed BLOs to collect details of people suffering from coronavirus symptoms by visiting houses in the district.
He was speaking in a meeting held in the zilla panchayat auditorium on Saturday to review work conducted to control the virus in the district. He asked to train all the BLOs in conducting tests within the next three days so that they may be assigned for the purpose.
“Those with symptoms should inform the district administration and obtain treatment to protect their health and those in the society. Officials should watch out against manufacture and sale of illicit liquor. Soon after corona positive case comes to light, their primary and secondary contacts should be identified and quarantined to prevent the spread of the virus,” he said. He commended the work by the district administration in this connection.
“Those who arrive from other districts after obtaining passes are kept in home quarantine and those who arrive unofficially are subjected to police quarantine. There are no restrictions on patients coming from Uttara Kannada district. No coronavirus positive case is reported in the district since the last 28 days. As many as 568 migrant workers who were in various shelter homes have been sent to their hometowns on Saturday. The others will be sent soon,” he said.
Nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat explained the details of coronavirus cases in the district, examinations and control.
District panchayat CEO Preeti Gehlot, SP Vishnuvardhan, coast guard SP Chetan, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district surgeon Dr Madhusudhan Nayak, all the tahsildars in the district and health department officials were present.
