Kasargod, Apr 23: In Kerala, coronavirus infection was confirmed in the case of 11 persons on Wednesday. But no fresh cases came to light in Kasargod district. A person from Palakkad was cured and discharged.
Seven out of the 11 new cases were from Kannur while Kozhikode accounted for two, and one each from Kottayam and Malappuram districts. Five among the newly infected people had come from abroad while three got it because of contact with others. A health worker from Kozhikode was infected. Two are house surgeons of medical college who came by train from outside Kerala.
In the meantime, four-gram panchayats, Manjeshwar, Kodom-Belur, Pallikere and Kumble, which do not have any coronavirus patients, have been dropped from the list of COVID-19 hotspots. Muliyaru panchayat has been newly added to the list. With this, hotspots in the district came down to 11.
Vehicle disinfection tunnel will become functional at Manjeshwar, which is the entry point for vehicles from Karnataka entering Kerala, from April 23.
